Dr. Erin Van Veldhuizen

Erin Van Veldhuizen

Doctor of Chiropractic and Registered Nurse

Dr. Erin graduated Cum Laude from Northwestern College in Orange City, IA with a Bachelors of Arts in Biology and Health Professions. Dr. Erin graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. She also holds a Bachelors of Science in Anatomy and a Bachelors of Science in Health and Wellness. Dr. Erin graduated Magna Cum Laude from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, TX with her Doctor of Chiropractic (DC). She was named Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities for three consecutive years. In 2014, Dr. Erin earned her Diplomate in functional neurology from the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (DACNB). The DACNB achievement means that Dr. Erin has over 300 hours in post-graduate functional neurology training and passed rigorous boards and practical exams. Additionally, she has a Doctorate of Clinical Nutrition (DCN) from the American Association of Integrative Medicine and a Diplomate from the Chiropractic Board of Clinical Nutrition (CBCN). She has additional certifications in Gluten Practitioner (CGP), Clinical Chiropractic Neurology (CCCN), and camera thermography technician from the International Association of Camera Thermologists (IACT).

Parker College of Chiropractic’s Alumni Association named Dr. Erin the Young Alumni of the Year in 2008. Dr. Erin has served as the treasurer for Parker College’s Alumni Association Board of Directors. She served as an adjunct faculty member for over five years at Brookhaven College teaching Anatomy & Physiology. Dr. Erin has also assisted teaching in technique labs at Parker University. She speaks for many organizations, health care professionals, and graduate students on topics of women’s health, disease prevention, nutrition and lifestyle, neurological conditions and prevention, supplementation and diet, physiological aspects of disease, and many more.

Dr. Erin has worked in healthcare for over half of her life. Her past titles have included: CNA (Certified Nurse’s Assistant), PCT (Patient Care Technician), Telemetry Technician, Honor’s Program Student director for an NIH-directed grant that was published in Parasite Neurobiology, Professor Assistant and Lab Assistant in undergraduate and graduate school, and Honor’s Program Chiropractic Intern. Dr. Erin has over 500 hours of training in functional medicine and over 500 hours of training in functional neurology.

Dr. Erin focuses on functional medicine, functional neurology and neurological rehab, camera thermography and women’s health, prenatal and pediatric care, cranial adjusting, soft tissue rehabilitation, and allergy elimination. Her practices emphasize whole-body wellness and corrective care. Dr. Erin is passionate about helping ALL patients receive safe and natural care for the whole body and whole family. She values communication and education in order to help patients understand their role in their health and the CAUSE of their symptoms or conditions.

Dr. Erin is a proud wife and mother of two handsome boys: Jonah and Luke.

Dr. Paige PhelanPaige Phelan, DC

Dr. Paige Phelan graduated from Parker University in Dallas, TX in 2019 where she earned a double Bachelor’s in Anatomy and Physiology as well as in Health and Wellness. Born in Houston, TX and a 25-year Murphy, TX native Dr. Paige is a born-and-raised Texan. A long-time sufferer of allergies and anaphylactic reactions, Dr. Paige turned to holistic and alternative medicine. Additionally, her mother suffered from benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) that started her on her journey to find treatments for this debilitating condition. While at Parker, Dr. Paige held the presidency of both the Neurology Club and Nutrition Club on campus with a passion for interdisciplinary care and searching for the root cause of neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction. Dr. Paige has completed over 300 hours of post-graduate functional neurology and functional nutrition courses with a passion for traumatic brain injury, neuroendocrine modulation, discopathies, radiculopathies, and childhood developmental disorders. Committed to a lifetime of learning, Dr. Paige would spend her spare time shadowing at other cross-disciplinary centers in the metroplex and at other functional medicine, functional nutrition, and functional neurology practices across the US. Dr. Paige strives to be the embodiment of the adage said by Parker University’s founder: “Loving Service is My First Technique.”

Dr. Paige’s preferred method of adjusting is Flexion-Distraction technique, and she is additionally skilled in manual myofascial release, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, kinetic and functional taping, active and passive rehabilitative services, and the Blye cranial technique. She is proud to serve the DFW metroplex where she now resides.

Dr. Skylar Camacho graduated from Parker University in 2020 with her Doctorate in Chiropractic. She is also a Personal Trainer certified by the Cooper Institute in Dallas, Texas. Skylar was born and raised in Pilot Point, Texas where she grew up playing a variety of sports. She was first introduced to Chiropractic after injuring her low back in a softball game when she was 13 years old. From then on Skylar continued utilizing chiropractic care throughout her collegiate career at Northwestern State University, where she received her bachelor’s in biology with a medical concentration. While completing her degree at NSU, her softball career was cut short by the onset of seizure like episodes. Initially treated by traditional allopathic medicine, a variety of different medications was explored without success. Skylar went on in search for her healing and enrolled into Parker University’s Chiropractic program in 2016 where she found Functional Neurology and her life was transformed.

Skylar is a holistic health enthusiast with a passion for enhancing the biomechanics and neurology of the body for optimal performance. She is skilled in various adjusting techniques including Motion Palpation, Thompson, Blye cranial technique and Flexion – Distraction. She is certified in fascial distortion model and is proficient in active release technique as well as instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. Skylar is currently working towards her Diplomate in Functional Neurology. Skylar enjoys spending time with family and friends, practicing yoga, trying new restaurants, and spending time in nature.

Rhonda NicholasRhonda Nicholas LMT, MTI, CCTT

Rhonda is our Licensed Massage Therapist and certified Thermography Tech at IHWG. Rhonda graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1999 with a degree in kinesiology. She went to Hands on Therapy School of Massage and graduated in Sept 2002. She then went to Ariana Institute and received her Massage Therapy Instructor License in Aug 2018. She is currently in school for Medical Assistant at Remington College in Dallas. When Rhonda is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their 4 kids, reading, and volunteering at cancer centers and hospice centers.

Ashley Rodds

Ashley Rodda, MA

Ashley is our Medical Assistant at IHWG. Ashley graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree and Arts in Nutrition and a minor in Health Care Professions. She remained on the Dean’s list during her time at UT. Born in Wisconsin, Ashley has been a resident of Murphy, TX for 12 years. While in high school she worked as a swim instructor, party hostess and nanny. She received her Girl Scouts Gold Award in 2017 during her senior year of high school. She implemented a sustainable denim recycling program within her community that turns denim into insulation that is donated to underserved communities. This program earned her the Ruth Jackson Leadership Award from Keep Texas Beautiful, the Prudential Certificate of Excellence as well as the President’s Volunteer Service Award. She also served on the Plano ISD Health Advisory Committee and on Student Council as the Public Relations chair. During her college summers she worked as a CNA in a local nursing home before starting her job as a PCT in the surgery center of St. David’s in Austin during her last year of University. She was also the President of Sigma Alpha Lambda a philanthropy group on campus as well as being a member of Habitat for Humanity and the Pre-PA Society. Ashley is currently applying to PA school but has an increasing interest in functional/holistic medicine.

Shana HidoussiShana Hidoussi

Shana graduated from Independence College of Cosmetology as a licensed Esthetician and CIDESCO diploma in 2006. She graduated The X-ray Academy of Texas as a licensed NCT in 2017. Shana graduated from Medical Career Training with a license in CCMA in 2018. Shana has lived in AR, CA, KY, LA, MO, OK, TX and Saudi Arabia. She has enjoyed traveling to 20 plus states in the U.S. and visited Thailand. Shana loves being a wife, a cat mom, a daughter, and an Aunt with two wonderful nieces. Shana joined the IHWG team as our scheduler and personal office assistant to Dr Erin.

Shana joined the IHWG team as our scheduler and personal office assistant to Dr Erin.

Summer Benjamin

Elise Lilya

Elise is our Therapy Tech at IHWG. Elise graduated from Texas A&M University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition. Elise was born in Folsom, California and relocated to Austin, Texas for middle school through high school. In high school Elise assisted at Round Rock Orthotics and Prosthetics and worked as a server in a local restaurant. She participated in the University of Texas’ Honors Colloquium for Women in Engineering and went to regionals for both the science fair and track. She received a State Honors award from Duke University TIP for her ACT scores. Elise has previous experience as a Rehabilitation Nursing Technician and ENT medical assistant at CHI St. Joseph. She has been a certified EMT-B since 2019 and enjoys both emergency medicine and outpatient clinics. She also volunteered at the memory care center of a local nursing home and at the Beutel STI clinic as a member of A&M’s premed organizations. Elise is currently applying for her second bachelor’s in nursing and intends to become an NP. She enjoys spending time with her chihuahua, Hazel, reading and going for walks. She looks forward to learning more about functional medicine and utilizing what she learns in the future.

Cle' Alford

Cle’ Alford

Cle’ graduated from Texas Christian University in Ft Worth, Texas, with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and minor in Communications. Cle’ was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and held the office of Panhellenic Rush Counselor. Cle’ has over 25 years of work experience as a Regional Human Resource Manager. She was introduced to holistic medicine in 1995 when she was unable to be treated with traditional medicine for her chronic rhinosinusitis due to poor immune function. Cle’ became a patient of Dr. Erin’s in 2018. Then joined Dr Erin’s team as the office manager in 2020. Her personal mission statement is to give time and attention to others to enhance their personal and professional life. In her spare time Cle’ is a mentor/sponsor for women who attend Celebrate Recovery at her church. Cle’ was born in Tacoma, Washington. Grew up in San Antonio and Austin, now lives in Richardson with her husband and two rescue ShihTuz puppies.
