Their advanced design targets a wider range of contaminants than filters made solely of activated carbon, offering superior performance and long-term protection.

Berkey strongly cautions against lookalike filters marketed as “compatible” BB9-2 replacements. Authentic Black Berkey Elements are specifically designed to work synergistically inside Berkey systems, ensuring optimal contaminant reduction and consistent, trusted results.

Economical and long-lasting, each pair of Black Berkey Elements filters up to 6,000 gallons before replacement is recommended. If additional capacity or redundancy is desired, the Big Berkey can be expanded with additional pairs of elements (sold separately), with each extra pair adding another 6,000 gallons of filtration life.
