Cure for Chronic Digestive Problems

At one time or another, we have all experienced the discomfort of bloating, abdominal pain, gas, diarrhea or constipation. But, for many, this is becoming a daily occurrence. Traditionally, triggers have been thought to be anything from stress, eating certain foods, or stomach or bowel infections.Chronic Digestive Problems

Crohn’s Disease is an inflammatory bowel disease, and its prevalence is increasing in industrialized nations. The symptoms are most commonly diarrhea and stomach pain, but weight loss and irritability are also characteristic of the disease. Up until now, typical treatment has been to administer various drugs such as antihistamines, antibiotics, immunosuppressants and artificial hormones. Unfortunately for many, these drugs are considered unsatisfactory. Many sufferers often require recurring hospitalization and even surgery.

According to the results of a recent study on “Chronic Nerve Compression,” Vertebral Subluxation may play a significant role in the cause of Crohn’s Disease and other digestive problems.

The nerve compression that results from chronic, undetected subluxation can have significant effects on digestion and the absorption of nutrients and liquids. The authors of the study noted that they were able to obtain significant alleviation and remission of the diseases by reducing the amount of nerve interference caused by subluxation.

A massive 70% of the patients who had battled with chronic digestive problems showed long-term and stable remission of their symptoms without the need for drugs after receiving 12 – 52 weeks of specific corrective chiropractic adjustments.

“It is easy to see why people with all kinds of digestive and intestinal disorders respond very well to specific corrective adjustments. All human processes are monitored and controlled by the human brain, spinal cord and the network of nerves exiting the spine that run through the whole body,” the researchers said.

Our Health problem of the month for June is “Chronic Digestive Problems.” As such, we are focusing on digestive problems and their relationship to an abnormal spine and stressed nervous system.

“Chiropractic Cures Infant with Constipation”
Chiropractic Pediatrics, Vol. 1 No. 3 Dec. 1994

An infant began having constipation at six months old when solid foods were introduced. In order for her to have a bowel movement, she had to be in a warm bath with her legs up and her abdomen massaged. At one point, the baby actually became impacted and emergency care was needed. It was not uncommon for her to go a week to ten days between bowel movements. After her second chiropractic adjustment, the patient had a bowel movement all by herself. Within two weeks, she began having regular bowel movements by herself every two or three days. At 16 months, the patient began to walk and she has at least one totally normal bowel movement every day.

“25-Year-Old Woman with Irritable Bowel Syndrome Saved By Chiropractic”
Chiropractic Technique 1996

Irritable Bowel Syndrome, also known as ‘mucous colitis’ and nervous bowel, affects 15-25% of adults. Symptoms include cramping and/or abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation, ulcer-type symptoms, heartburn and/or upper abdominal indigestion.

In this case study of a woman with chronic irritable bowel syndrome, her chief complaint was intestinal pain and diarrhea. This was worse during stressful periods and had occurred one or two times per week for the past five years. After her first chiropractic adjustment, she reported that she had not experienced any diarrhea for two days following. Her symptoms were quickly alleviated during the course of her intensive corrective care. Two years later, she remained symptom-free with regular wellness adjustments.

Consider this: your stomach, gall bladder, spleen, kidneys, liver, large and small intestines, appendix and rectal passage cannot work at 100% if they are receiving compromised nerve impulses. That’s why regular checkups of your spine are essential for maintaining great digestive health…not just until the bloating goes away, but for life (that is, if you want your digestive system working for life!)
