Soft Tissue Modalities
When pain, stiffness, or injury affects your soft tissues—muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia—our specialized therapies can help restore function and relieve discomfort. At Innovative Health & Wellness Group, we offer several evidence-based soft tissue modalities tailored to your specific needs.
Graston Technique®
The Graston Technique uses specialized instruments to effectively identify and treat scar tissue and restrictions in the soft tissues. By carefully gliding these instruments across affected areas, our practitioners can detect and break down adhesions that may be causing pain or limiting your movement.
This instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) technique helps:
-
- Increase blood flow to affected areas
- Break up scar tissue and fascial restrictions
- Reduce pain and improve range of motion
- Accelerate rehabilitation and recovery
Many patients experience significant improvement after 3-10 treatments, making Graston an efficient option for many soft tissue issues.

Active Release Techniques® (ART)
ART is a patented, state-of-the-art soft tissue system that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. What makes ART unique is how it combines precise manual pressure with specific patient movements.
During treatment, our practitioners will:
-
- Locate areas of tissue tension or adhesion
- Apply specific pressure with their hands
- Guide you through particular movements while maintaining this pressure
This combination effectively helps to release trapped nerves, improve blood flow, and restore proper tissue function. ART has been shown to be particularly effective for conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, sciatica, and many sports injuries.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Using firm pressure and slow strokes, our practitioners work to release chronic muscle tension, break up scar tissue, and resolve knots that can disrupt circulation and cause pain.
Unlike regular massage, deep tissue work focuses on problem areas with deliberate, therapeutic pressure. While sometimes uncomfortable during treatment, patients typically experience significant relief afterward as tissues release and blood flow improves.

HIVAMAT® (Deep Oscillation Therapy)
HIVAMAT® therapy uses a unique, patented electrostatic pulse technology that works deep within the tissues. Unlike conventional electrical stimulation, this gentle treatment creates biologically effective oscillations in the tissue using an electrostatic field.
This advanced therapy:
-
- Reduces pain and inflammation quickly
- Supports digestion – both diarrhea and constipation, as well as other bowel-based issues
- Eliminates excess fluid and toxins from tissues
- Acts as an effective tool toward nervous system regulation and appropriate brain-body communication
- Accelerates healing in acute injuries and post-surgical recovery
- Aids in breaking down fibrosis and scar tissue
HIVAMAT® is exceptionally effective for lymphatic drainage, making it valuable for reducing swelling and edema. Patients often report immediate pain relief and improved mobility following treatment. The gentle nature of this therapy allows us to treat acute injuries earlier than with more aggressive manual techniques.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy uses special cups placed on the skin to create suction. This ancient technique has gained modern recognition for its effectiveness in:
-
- Loosening tight fascia and connective tissue
- Promoting blood circulation to affected areas
- Reducing inflammation
- Relieving muscle tension and pain
The distinctive circular marks left after treatment indicate areas where stagnation has been released and fresh blood flow encouraged. These marks typically fade within a few days as your body processes the released toxins and inflammatory byproducts.

Vibration Therapy
Using specialized devices that deliver targeted vibration to soft tissues, this modality helps:
-
- Increase local blood circulation
- Reduce muscle tension and spasm
- Stimulate proprioceptors (position sensors) in your muscles
- Speed recovery by enhancing lymphatic drainage
- Allow deeper pressure and breakups of adhesions in areas that may otherwise be too painful
Vibration therapy is often incorporated into treatment sessions to prepare tissues for other modalities or to help soothe and relax the area after more intensive work.
